English: Bayeux Tapestry - Scene 19: siege of Dinan (detail). The soldiers of William, Duke of Normandy attack the motte-and-bailey castle of Dinan. Conan II, Duke of Brittany surrenders and gives the keys to Dinan via a lance.
Deutsch: Tapisserie (gestickter Wandteppich) von Bayeux - Szene 19: Die Belagerung von Dinan (Detail). Die Soldaten von Guillaume, Herzog der Normandie, auch Wilhelm der Eroberer genannt, greifen eine befestigte Turmhügelburg (Motte) bei Dinan an. Der Herzog der Bretagne, Conan genannt, ergibt sich und überreicht die Schlüssel der Stadt auf einer Lanze. Auf der Stickerei gut zu erkennen sind die Merkmale einer Motte (Turmhügelburg): Am Bild mittig und oben ist die turmartige Hochburg zu sehen. Den Umgang bzw. die Plattform schützen Holzpalisaden. Eine Holzbrücke, ausgestattet mit einem Eingangstor, überquert den Ringwall und dann Ringgraben und erreicht so den Umgang bzw. die Plattform mit der Hochburg.
